Our notes on Durban Poison
A pure South African sativa from the port city of Durban, brought to the Netherlands by Ed Rosenthal in the late 1970s and stabilised into the line we know today. Buds are long, tapering, and surprisingly resin-heavy for a pure sativa, with chunky calyxes and bright orange pistils. The high is the cleanest, most clear-headed energy available in cannabis — almost like a strong coffee, with a sweet anise and pine flavour profile that's distinctive on first taste. As a landrace it's robust, mould-resistant, and thrives in heat and humidity, making it one of the best outdoor choices for tropical Thailand. Stretches hard during the first weeks of flower; plan for height and consider topping early. A foundational genetic line that anyone serious about cannabis history should grow at least once.
